windows, linux isnt rly usefull if you want to do a range of things, too much effort for the bonuses you get, less software for it. and yes thier are alternative bits of software for somethings but its never as good and takes time to find, i would allways go with windows but i have linux installed onto a usb drive for if i ever need it.
i allways see it as this

linux .................................................windows..................................................mac
most of stuff to change....................lots to mess with..........................not so feature rich
takes lots of effort.............................easy to use...........................................effortless
best compromise
