Upgrading Boot Camp from XP 32-bit to 7 64-bit?
I'm thinking of purchasing a copy of Windows 7 64-bit and installing it on my 2008 aluminum macbook via Boot Camp. I've been using a copy of Windows XP for a long time now, and since I'm looking into building a new system with Windows 7 on it, I've considered giving the new OS a try before I get enough money to build my new system. I primarily use my bootcamp drive for games, like Dragon Age: Origins.
Will I see a performance jump if I do this? Will I lose compatibility with older, pre-64-bit-era games? Can I even install 64 bit on my macbook for that matter?

On a system like that you would see a performance drop.
Since you already have windows installed on it I wouldn't upgrade to a newer version, wait till you build your new system to experience 7. Don't worry it won't disappoint.
As for the 64 bit thing, there is a small handfull of old games that won't work in 64 bit but they are mostly dos-based. You can still use programs to run them. 64 bit is usually the best way to go, its more stable and like nick said it can utilize over 4gigs of ram.
