EDIT: i fixed it, it was an issue with internet explorers connection settings that had somehow gotten messed up, restored them to default and problems went away.

when i click on the store, news or community tab i get the same error (shown in the pic at bottom of post)

i can connect to the internet fine in firefox and Opera but not Chrome or IE and i'm unable to connect to windows live messenger. (also utorrent works fine)

what may have caused the problem: yesterday a virus started annoying me so i entered safe mode, installed avast antivirus and got rid of it along with other things.

when i booted up again i had this problem, it could be avast, but i tried disabling all the real time shields it has and i still had the same problem

i get an error message at boot about a missing .dll file (i'll post the exact one when i next boot)

any suggestions of ways to fix this?
